Breath prayers are an important part of my practice. I like your wording of tiny prayers. I used to think that creating beautifully elaborate prayers was the way to connect with God the deepest. Now I believe it is the opposite, in few words or complete silence.
Hi Kellie! I so resonate with what you say here. Somehow these tiny prayers, or moments of silence feel most authentic to me now. Thanks for your comment ♥️
Thank you Deborah! The 19th annotation is a beautiful and deep journey! It was an interesting challenge to put some of that into words, I'm glad you found them!
I love this so much! I am looking forward to sitting and down and reading your posts. You’ve already inspired me to think about how to incorporate tiny prayers into a Lenten practice.
So lovely to hear from you Emily! Incorporating tiny prayers sounds like a lovely gentle Lenten practice, I'm still wrestling with making my Lent simple and not signing up to all the things!
Goodness, you feel like a kindred spirit. I loved reading your thoughts and about your "harvesting from last year to figure out what to plant and nurture in the new year". I've being doing the same this month! I wish we were in the same place and could meet for tea :) Looking forward to continue reading your words!
Debbie, I’m thrilled your presence came to me in Substack. It’s been 12 years since I have practiced a regular, intentional prayer life as I used to. For many years I worked as a licensed clinical social worker in private practice, had a spiritual direction practice as well as leading spiritual retreats. I practiced in the Ignation Tradition as well as have experienced 9 months in the depths of The 19th Annotation.
A time came when my life shifted greatly. I decided to reduce my leadership, retire, move. That took 2 years and am happy with my decision. I want to reconnect with a spiritual community. The one I had here was through a retreat center. Sadly, the retreat center closed a number of years ago. I so value spiritual communities.
I loved the way you so gently presented your work and look forward to participating in what you give us.
Thank you Tina for your generous comment, so lovely to connect with you here. I share your background in social work too!
It sounds like you've had a lot of change over these last few years! I hope that you find a gentle practice and connections that sustain you on this new season ❤️
Lord, teach us to pray
For pray-ers we are not, but
We can be lifted
Love the haiku Charlie!
